Brussels accuse Alcan of abuse of dominant position

Europa Press,22/02/2008.- The Euopean comission said that the behaviour of the Canadian Comapany could be limiting the innovation in the aluminium production sector and could have a negative impact in the competition in the aluminium world market, valued in 70.000 millions of Euros. And also could have impact in all the european sectors that use the aluminium as raw material.

Alcan was purchased by Rio Tinto in october 2007, with this purchase, Rio Tinto Alcan, converted in the biggest aluminium producer. ECL, a subsidary of Alcan, is the main suplier of equipment used by the foundries of aluminium in all world.
